The series is best remembered for its Game 6, which saw the Mets rally from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the 10th inning, despite having two outs and no one on base. https://theodorhenriksen.com/ The Red Sox, who held a 3–2 series lead, were twice one strike away from securing the championship, but failed to close out the inning as the Mets tie on a Bob Stanley wild pitch & win off an error by Boston first baseman Bill Buckner. Due to the Mets claiming the series in Game 7, the Game 6 collapse entered baseball lore as part of the Curse of the Bambino superstition used to explain the Red Sox’s championship drought after the 1918 World Series.
10:37 p.m. — Alex Vesia took the mound for the Dodgers in the top of the eighth, and he does his job. Chisholm and Rizzo struck out, then Volpe lined out. Los Angeles has Edman, Ohtani and Betts due up in the bottom of the eighth.

On a blockchain, mining is the validation of transactions. For this effort, successful miners obtain new cryptocurrency as a reward. The reward decreases transaction fees by creating a complementary incentive to contribute to the processing power of the network. The rate of generating hashes, which validate any transaction, has been increased by the use of specialized hardware such as FPGAs and ASICs running complex hashing algorithms like SHA-256 and scrypt. This arms race for cheaper-yet-efficient machines has existed since bitcoin was introduced in 2009. Mining is measured by hash rate, typically in TH/s. A 2023 IMF working paper found that crypto mining could generate 450 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2027, accounting for 0.7 percent of global emissions, or 1.2 percent of the world total

Most cryptocurrencies are designed to gradually decrease the production of that currency, placing a cap on the total amount of that currency that will ever be in circulation. Compared with ordinary currencies held by financial institutions or kept as cash on hand, cryptocurrencies can be more difficult for seizure by law enforcement.

While the menus may get overly busy, the map looks excellent and presents a lot of useful information at a glance. It might not be quite as high fidelity as Civ 6 or the upcoming Humankind, but the units and buildings are a bit less exaggerated and stylized, so I feel more like I’m looking at a real place and not at a game board. And that’s a pretty big deal for me.
The wars you’ll fight across these maps are definitely a highlight of Old World. And unlike the other new features, they add a lot of depth without adding much complexity. Axemen have a cleave that can deal reduced damage to anyone close to their primary target. Simple. Cavalry get to attack again if they kill a unit. Spearmen are the only guys that can stop cavalry in their tracks, as mounted units normally ignore zone of control rules. None of these abilities require multiple paragraphs of text to understand or come with an armload of edge cases, but the possibilities for using them in concert are great, much like a game of chess. And the AI is generally much more capable of understanding and employing those ideas than anything I’ve seen in Civ 6, even after its years of patches.
Conquer the Old World in this historical, epic strategy game from Soren Johnson, Lead Designer of Civilization IV and Offworld Trading Company. Every year is a turn, and each leader is a mere mortal, so your lasting legacy will be the dynasty you leave behind.

They added a run in both the fifth and sixth innings before Tears provided the exclamation point with an RBI double in the eighth inning. It was a vintage Drew Beam start, and it could not have come at a better time or in a bigger spot. The prized righthander allowed one run with seven strikeouts across five innings pitched, while the bullpen duo of Kirby Connell (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) and Nate Snead (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K) followed with four-straight shutout innings to slam the door.
Texas A&M put two runners on in both the eighth and ninth innings, but were unable to scratch a run across. Tennessee’s pitching was excellent all afternoon, but especially righthander Aaron Combs who struck out five across four scoreless innings.
The top of the eighth inning for the Volunteers was essentially a carbon copy of the seventh, as with two outs and a runner on first Cal Stark broke out of his 0-for-16 slump with a no-doubt, two-run blast over the bullpen in left field.
